The high powered Greyhounds set a fast-paced intense tempo to the game immediately. The 67’s were able to gain some momentum after two straight powerplays, but it was the Greyhounds with the better chances on their second man advantage. Both teams had several chances on both sides but no one was able to beat the goaltenders and the game remained scoreless after 20 minutes.

Early in
the second period, Dante Salituro got the 67’s on the board drawing first blood.
Connor Graham fed Alex Lintuniemi the puck from behind the net, he shot it from
the high slot and Salituro tipped it in behind Brandon Halverson in the
Greyhounds’ net.

The
Greyhounds would tie the game midway through the second. Charley Graaskamp
scored his third goal of the season off a delayed penalty call. They would take
their first lead of the game late in the period as another powerplay had
expired. Orleans native, Jean Dupuy passed the puck to Tim Gettinger from the
halfwall and Gettinger used his strength to get past a couple 67’s players and
fired a shot past Liam Herbst on his blocker side.

Converting
on an early powerplay, the 67’s tied the game at 2 after a pretty passing play
found a wide open Trent Malette right on the door step. He made no mistake and
slid it past Halverson for the tying goal. Less than two minutes later, Travis
Konecny would regain the 67’s one-goal lead. He wired a shot from the bottom of
the faceoff circle capitalizing on a delayed powerplay.
Liam
Herbst made several key saves, but he couldn’t stop the next game tying goal
from Gabe Guertier midway through the third. Guertier tipped in a Keigan Goetz
shot that bounced right over Herbst to eventually force overtime.
“Liam was good. It certainly wasn’t the reason we lost or anything like that. I thought he had a strong game,” said 67’s coach Jeff Brown.
Seconds
after a great chance for Dante Salituro to become the game hero, Oilers’
prospect Darnell Nurse fired a shot from the high slot beating Herbst cleanly
to give the Greyhounds the 4-3 overtime win ending the 67’s undefeated home
streak at 6 games.
While
the remaining unbeaten in regulation there are still things the coach would like
the team to work on between now and the half point of the season.
“We just want to keep getting better. It’s a journey. It’s not so much the wins and losses, it’s ‘are we going to be a better hockey club?’ And the answer is yes, we are better today than we were at the beginning of the year; but so are a lot of other teams. So, we just have to keep getting better and better.”
It’s a quick
turn-around for the 67’s as they are right back at it hosting the Kingston
Frontenacs tomorrow afternoon.

- On giving Erik Bradford the second Alternative Captaincy: “He’s one of those guys, first on the ice, last off, morning, optionals, he’s always there always working on his game. He’s a hockey player. He wants to be a hockey player. He competes, sometimes cheats too much for my liking but his heart’s there, his character’s there, and he’s looked up to in the locker room.”
- On Artur Tyanulin returning to Russia. “It’s too bad, he’s a great hockey player. He’s got a ton of hockey sense ability. It wasn’t really his play it was away from the rink, he struggled with it.”
