67's shutout Bulldogs 6-0 for second consecutive win

Who let the dogs out? No one did.

Leo Lazarev shut the door on all 25 Bulldog shots fired his way earning his second shutout of the season.  The 67’s offense was on fire securing a big 6-0 win over the Hamilton Bulldogs in OHL action tonight.  

With their 6-3 win last night over the Ice Dogs, it was their second consecutive win against ‘dog’ opponents and their second consecutive win to start their 6-game roadtrip.

The 67’s came out strong controlling most of the play in the first period but were unable to beat Connor Hicks in the Hamilton net. Leo Lazarev, in his 11^th start of the season, was left untested until the second period.

Ottawa drew first blood early in the second frame as Austen Keating capitalized on the power play to give the 67’s a 1-0 lead. Lazarev had to be sharp as the Bulldogs played their best hockey of their 60 minutes. Their hard work was cut short when the 67’s combined for 3 goals in the final 2 and a half minutes of the period. Dante Salituro, Trent Mallette, and Travis Barron made it 5-0 67’s after two periods.

The hole was too big for the Bulldogs to climb back. Keating added another power play goal midway through the third period to round out the scoring. Specialty teams were good for the 67’s tonight; they went 2/4 on the power play and a perfect 0/3 on the penalty kill.

A successful roadtrip start for the 67’s this weekend as they grabbed all 4 possible points. A lot of positives to draw out of the two wins. Liam Herbst and Leo Lazarev split the two wins and looked solid in the net. The 67’s also saw goal scoring from 9 different players in the lineup and points from 18 different players.

The 67’s are idle until Wednesday when they continue their roadtrip to Peterborough.
