Salituro ejected, Lazarev goes off the rails, 67's still manage two points

The 67's learned the hard way not to lean on a hot hand or a steady netminder in a shootout win over the Oshawa Generals on Sunday.

Riding one hot line and, predominantly, the hot hand in Dante Salituro wasn't going to work for too long, especially against an Oshawa team that relies heavily on their top d-pairing, and leaning on Leo Lazarev wasn't going to be sustainable either.

Especially when Salituro was ejected from the game, and Lazarev got caught swimming in and around his crease.

Salituro scored after Adam Craievich opened the scoring to widen the 67's lead to two, but was assessed five and a game for getting his stick up on Ottawa native Alex Renaud,

From there, Oshawa's powerplay scored twice to tie the game.

As the teams traded another pair of goals each and time dwindled down, Lazarev started to come unglued, receiving a penalty for covering the puck at the top of the hashmarks and another for embellishment in overtime.

Luckily for the Barberpoles, Lazarev put it all back together to stop six-of-eight in the shootout, as Ben Fanjoy, Artur Tyanulin and Connor Warnholtz all scored to squeak out their second shootout win in nine days over their divisional rival.

Ottawa gets a chance to pad some stats against a Hamilton team on the outside looking in on Friday before a matchup with Peterborough, the team responsible for injuries to two of Ottawa's three hurt rookies that also happens to be neck-and-neck with them in the East.
