Round 1 Game 1: Mississauga gets to Lazarev, winning 6-2

The 67's probably couldn't have drawn up a better start to the opening night of the playoffs, putting a brief scare into the heavily-favoured Steelheads, but it didn't last long.

Sasha Chmelevski, a near-miss on a 2-on-1 in his back pocket, buried a cross-seam pass to open the scoring on the powerplay.

From there, the Steelheads, and more specifically 2017-eligible Owen Tippett, flipped a switch and decided it wasn't the underdog's night.

Giving up odd-man rushes galore to a Mississauga team that can move the puck in a hurry, the 67's left a semi-shaky Leo Lazarev out to dry while giving up four markers in a row.

Tippett finished the night with a goal and three assists, and while the 6-2 final may not have been indicative of how close it felt going into the final frame, Trent Fox put it away with two in the third.

With hopes that the defensive mishaps are all out of their system, the Barberpoles try to swing the series back in their favour in game two on Sunday.
